The Cut-Price Bookstore
Branding
The Challenge
The Cut-Price Bookstore is an independent and proudly family owned and run book shop in Beverley, East Yorkshire. The company wanted a full re-brand to elevate and modernise the business.
Research & Discovery
The Family felt that although their prices competed with the likes of discount book seller, The Works the brand name didn’t accurately reflect their business ethos. They wanted a name and brand that had connotations of quality and tradition. On the high street their competitor was a few shops down so standing out was essential.

Ideation & Solution
Working alongside a copywriter the name ‘Bookmark’ was settled on. The wordmark was created in a serif font akin to typefaces typically found in books. A cut out section in the ‘m’ was worked into the logo, drawing inspiration from traditional bookmark ribbons found in hardback books.
